The IAT develops and conducts technical courses in electric armaments (EA) theory and in the design, development, and operation of the various subsystems and functions of the electric gun system and related technologies. In support of the national EA program, IAT houses a Technical Information Center which is continuously upgraded to provide the latest technical information and convenient data access. In 1991, the U.S. Army designated The University of Texas at Austin (UT) as a host university for the Army's Senior Service College Fellows Program. Mr. Robert Riffle manages the Fellowship Program from the IAT. The U.S. Military Academy Cadet Research Program and the High School Apprenticeship program are conducted each summer and participants are matched with Institute scientists as mentors for individual research projects. Other programs such as support for specialized degrees, fellowships, cooperative research, and academic advising are also provided. The very latest in technical information is available and presented to support present and future Army scientists, engineers, and leaders. Dr. Paul Funk, LTG USA (R) supports the Education Mission Area. University XXI is focussed on providing digitization research in support of the development of a digital battle staff trainer for Army battle staffs using the new Force XXI digital C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) systems, and also runs other projects. |
